Terms of Use

Mathey is an AI-powered maths practice and coaching tool for children, aligned to the Victorian Curriculum F–10. It is a study aid — it supplements school and parenting, it does not replace teachers, schools, or professional educational assessment. Mathey is operated from Victoria, Australia, and these terms are governed by the laws of Victoria.

• Accounts are created and held by adults (18+). Children use Mathey through profiles their parent or guardian creates and supervises — kids never hold their own account.
• You are responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your email and parent PIN to yourself.
• You must give us accurate information and use the service only for your own family's learning, not on behalf of a school or business without our written agreement.

• Mathey's coaching, hints, generated questions and marking are produced by artificial intelligence. AI can and sometimes will make mistakes: a hint may be off-target, a generated question may be flawed, or working may be misread.
• We recommend that a parent or guardian accompanies their child during sessions, especially for younger children, and treats Mathey's assessments as helpful signals rather than authoritative grades.
• We put substantial safeguards around the AI (it stays on the maths, answers are independently verified before stars are awarded, and sessions are visible to you) — but no safeguard is perfect, and you accept that when using an AI product.

• The free trial is full-featured for its stated period and can be cancelled at any time in two clicks. Sample sessions are free and only ask for an email.
• Paid subscriptions renew automatically each period until you cancel. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
• Prices are in Australian dollars and may change; we'll notify you before any change affects your renewal.
• Usage allowances (session credits) exist to keep the service sustainable. They are described in your dashboard, where usage is itemised transparently.
• Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including remedies for services that aren't delivered with due care and skill.

• Don't attempt to break, probe or overload the service, scrape it, or access another family's data.
• Don't try to manipulate the AI into producing content unrelated to maths coaching.
• Don't resell or commercialise access to Mathey.
• We can suspend or close accounts that break these rules, with a refund of any unused paid period unless the breach was serious.

What your family writes or says in sessions remains yours. You give us permission to process it as needed to run the service (that's what makes coaching possible — see the Privacy Policy for exactly who processes what). Everything else — the software, design, question bank and the Mathey name — belongs to us, and a subscription doesn't transfer any of it to you.

To the extent the law allows, Mathey is provided "as is", and our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect losses, or for educational outcomes — Mathey is a practice tool, and results depend on many things outside our control. None of this excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Australian law, including consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.

You can leave at any time: cancel your subscription in the dashboard, and delete your account (and all your family's data) from Settings. We may retire or materially change the service with reasonable notice; if we shut down, we'll give you time to export what matters and refund any unused paid period.

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email account holders before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Mathey after that means you accept the new terms.
